Sunset

The air has been kind of thick the past couple of days. I thought it might make for an interesting sunset, so I went out to the Massacre Grounds trailhead after work today. It wasn't a spectacular sunset, but it was very nice.

Another great album. With your treatment of the landscape, there are plenty of clear details to look at both in the foreground and background. Is that fog or dust in the distance?

It is not fog. There probably is some dust in it. I would guess that it's mostly engine exhaust and smoke from fires (in home fireplaces). It's the brown cloud, which hangs over Phoenix during the winter when we don't have enough wind to blow it away.

Ah, the brown cloud. Denver also has this issue in the winter time. The city lies in a basin, and with the way the wind comes in off the mountains and plains it causes an inversion of temperatures that holds in the pollution and dust from roads.
